“In the Midwest, there is a different type of bath in every season and time of day. I currently live near a river and it is winter. Many species of birds have gone south for the winter or animals have hibernated. If I go now it will be quieter. It’s almost silent about everything with the snow. It smells fresh and fresh, intoxicating. Leaves crackle under your feet, barely covered by fresh snow. Towering, gnarled oaks stand guard here. Huge branching maples like a big hug there. A stand made of pretty, white peeling birch on another slope. Evergreen plants that cover the forest and infuse the air with a minty freshness. The feeling is of strength and timelessness. Bathing in the dappled sun through the trees, the sounds of rivers flowing by and birds scurrying from branch to branch. Feeling calm and peaceful and full of life no matter what happens in the rest of the world. “
