Curcumin can be difficult to absorb as only 3% of the curcumin from the spicy turmeric is absorbable, but it also occurs in supplementary form. It is best absorbed when the capsule contains piperine, a compound found in black pepper. It’s also more effective when combined with turmeric oil and other antioxidants. The recommended dose is 500 mg of curcumoids per day to help reduce inflammation. While nothing is a wonder pill, curcumin has been around for centuries and it is used extensively in traditional and Ayurvedic medicine. Extensive research studies show that it reduces inflammation and thus helps reduce disease.
