Having hassle reaching the end line?

When we think of ejaculatory dysfunction, most people think of premature ejaculation. But we should also consider delayed ejaculation (DE). As the name suggests, with delayed ejaculation, men may have difficulty climaxing or may not be able to climax at all. Men are often praised for being able to last longer, but as any man with delayed ejaculation will tell you, they want premature ejaculation instead. Not only is difficulty frustrating for men, but many women will also feel that there is something they are not doing right that it is not.

Delayed ejaculation can have many causes. It has been linked to low testosterone, hypothyroidism, hyperprolactinemia, and anxiety. Also, as men get older, the penis becomes less sensitive, which makes ejaculation difficult. Certain medications, like most SSRIs and some treatments for lower urinary tract symptoms, can potentially cause delayed ejaculation. Check out this resource if you are looking for a more in-depth explanation of delayed ejaculation.

The good news is that any of the above conditions are relatively easy to treat. Unfortunately, treatment doesn’t always resolve the delayed ejaculation. Although treatment is difficult, treatment options exist, and we have managed to completely correct some of our patients’ delayed ejaculations.

If you feel that delayed ejaculation is negatively affecting your sex life, simply know that you are not alone and that there is hope in the form of treatment.
