Yesterday in a coaching call, a customer and I talked about acceptance.
He thought that acceptance was mutually exclusive in order to have goals and want to improve. Somebody somewhere had given the impression that acceptance was at stake – just accept what is, and if it isn’t what you want, just let it go.
You know this saying – you made your bed … now you have to lie in it. 😖😳
I’ve made it clear it’s not about that at all …
Acceptance is about being completely honest with yourself where you are.
Accepting what IS and where you are right now is the solid foundation to take your next step and achieve your goals.
It doesn’t mean being complacent.
It doesn’t mean not wanting to improve or change.
It just means being honest with what is. Be honest about where you are
Be honest about your feelings.
If you are frustrated with where you are … take that too!
From this point you can be clear about where you want to go and what’s next …
And then you can take the first step towards real change.
